Small group strength session in progress at Alloy Personal Training Cary

Functional strength training designed for adults 40+ — safe, science-backed workouts that build muscle and protect joints. As we age, it’s not about doing more. It’s about doing what works.

Why Strength After 40 Is Different

After 40, muscle and bone density decline unless you actively train them — and the “no pain, no gain” workouts of your twenties are exactly the wrong tool. Our expert-led strength training in small groups helps reduce joint pain, improve energy, and rebuild confidence that carries into everyday life: progressive resistance work, scaled to your body, with a coach watching your form every session.

Built Around Your History

Bad knee, old shoulder injury, a back you don’t quite trust — that describes most of our members on day one. Your coach learns your history during your complimentary Starting Point Session and builds modifications directly into your program, so you train hard where you can and smart where you need to.

Common Questions

Is this program really designed for people my age and fitness level?

Yes—while we welcome adults of all ages and fitness levels, our programs are uniquely tailored for adults 40+. Whether you're brand new to strength training or returning after time off, our expert coaches and supportive small group format ensure you feel confident, safe, and empowered every step of the way.

I have an old injury (bad knee, shoulder, back). Can I still train at Alloy?

Yes, and you're in the majority. Many of our members come to us with a previous injury, joint issue, or physical limitation. Your coach learns your history during your Starting Point Session and builds modifications directly into your program, so you train hard where you can and smart where you need to. Many members tell us this is the first place they've trained without pain.

Do I have to be in shape already to join?

Not at all! Many of our members haven't exercised in years. We meet you where you are, and our small group personal training ensures you get expert guidance, every session. There's no judgment—just encouragement and smart programming that moves at your pace.

Is this like CrossFit or a bootcamp?

No. There are no competitions, no whiteboard leaderboards, and no pushing through pain. Alloy is structured strength training with a coach who knows your name and your limits, in groups small enough that nothing gets missed.

Every Membership Starts the Same Way
